MEET THE SKIPPER

MY STORY

Hi my name is Mark Criddle known as (Cridds) to all that know me. I have worked at sea for most of my adult life on fishing boats/tugs and Angling boats but most of my work has been with the RNLI. I started as a volunteer in 1988 and i became the youngest mechanic in the RNLI in 1993 when i was 23 ending with me being the coxswain from 2005 until recently retiring in 2023, but remaining as a volunteer. I have always fished from shore and have also owned my own boats. When i was at an early age i used to save my money to go wreck fishing with Lloyd Saunders on Salt Wind of the Dart also Barry Lingham and Ted Cook. When i left school all i ever wanted to do was have my own charter boat, its only taken 40 years!

I have been a member of Brixham sea anglers for over 40 years i have served on the committees in various positions, including chairman i have also served on the Torbay festival committee. Some of my Angling achievements were as Top charter boat skipper Torbay festival 3 times, had the winning fish on my boat twice and the best wreck fish three times and many other prize-winning fish. I am a life member of the British conger club and have won awards and comps with them.

As you can see I enjoy my fishing too. 28 pound coalfish caught from Yell in the shetlands on Obern Charters.
